Lukas Stappen doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) in multimodal deep learning was supervised by Prof. Schuller and defended with summa cum laude (engl. with the highest honours) in 2021. He received a M.Sc. in Data Science with distinction from King's College London, UK, in 2017 and joined Prof. Dobson’s group.
He (co-)authored 30+ publications (1500+ citations, h-index=19+) in the research fields of multimodal and language deep learning, with focus on human-centric systems. Further interests are denoising in-the-wild signals and machine learning in healthcare-related domains.
He was the founder of The Multimodal Sentiment Analysis Challeng a Challenge & Workshop at ACM Multimedia (A*), program committee member at the 4th (IJCAI 2019) and 5th (ECAI 2020) International Workshop on Knowledge Discovery in Healthcare Data, data chair at the Interspeech Computational Paralinguistics ChallengE (ComParE) 2020, reviewer for IJCAI, IJCNN, ICASSP, ACL, AACL (IJCNLP), IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing and many more. Furthermore, he received several student academic excellence scholarships as well as the best paper award of the IEEE MMSP 2020.
